I have a daughter who was liked by a wealthy family. They came and proposed for marraige of their son. It was decided that if boy and girl say yes to go ahead then only further talks would be carried out. After about a month and meeting each other 3 to 4 times the girl and boy said yes to go ahead. Since both were still post graduate students the marraige was planned after about a year. Formal engagement ceremony as per the tradition was carried out in presence of over 100 invitees from both sides after about 6 months during which the boy and girl were meeting each other and both were very happy. After the engagement ceremony was over for unexplained reasons the boy's family started keeping distance and uncommunicative. I therefore called for a meeting in which to my shock the boy said that he does not want to get married since he felt that there was lack of compatibility. He could not give any reason why he did not say so during 6 months when he was meeting the girl very often and introducing her to many people as his would be wife. Now my daughter is in shock and feels humiliated cheated and insulted as all our relatives friends and people from town were present during engagement ceremony. She has developed infiriority complex and does not want to face the criticism. Can law help her to redress the wrong done to her.
