Assistance to a senior citezen

Respected Members, One senior citizen aged 87 yrs, widower, a retired Govt employee, was forcibly evicted by his daughter-in-law, from the house he was living since 1990. He along with his (late) wife had shifted to this house owned by his daughter-in-law, when he was requested by his son (presently in a foreign country doing research studies) and daughter-in-law to look after their grandson and granddaughter. Over the years, both his grand children grew up and became Doctors and his wife also died. He was living in the house all alone on his pension, meeting all his expenses by himself. This old man has one daughter and two sons. He lives in Tamil Nadu. Whilst the Daughter is living in the same town nearby, the youngest son is a Government employee, in a job which involves frequent transfers to places, all over India. This son visits him often and helps him. This problem occurred when marital discord developed between the couple (elder son who lives abroad and his wife,who owns and runs a hospital in the same town where the old man lives and whose children were brought up by this senior citizen). Recently when he was forcibly evicted without any prior notice, this senior citizen was not permitted to take his important documents such as his pensioners’ Identity Card, ATM cards, Pension Passbooks etc along with him. His youngest son who is in India, had to lodge a complaint with the local Police to retrieve these documents. Other possessions are still in the house where the old man was living. Subsequently another house was rented and this senior citizen is presently living there. Following merit attention:- (a) The family of the daughter-in-law is influential both financially as well as in other ways. Hence local lawyers are either threatened, paid huge sums of cash or coerced to prevent rendering any legal assistance to this old man. (b) Subsequent official complaints lodged by his youngest son to Local Police, about the forcible eviction and wrongful custody of Official documents by his daughter-in-Law, have not yielded any result. (c) The senior citizen suspects that his identity documents have been misused, whilst they were in the custody of his daughter-in-law. (d) The senior Citizen says that he was also made a business partner / trustee in some of the business firms run by his daughter-in-law and her parents. He does not possess any legal document as he had not asked for them. He has only one receipt of payment to the trust. (e) Presently his daughter-in-law is planning to give the house where he was living, on rent. (f) This senior citizen feels he is too old to leave this town where he had lived since 1990, as he has friends to interact. How can this senior citizen be helped for following:- (a) Protecting his Human Rights as a Senior Citizen (b) Identify any NGO which can stand up to render legal assistance locally, at Tamil Nadu. (c) Ascertain if he had been made a partner / trustee by his daughter-in-Law and her parents. (d) Ascertain if his identity documents have been misused or not (e) Ascertain if his legal share / trust proceedings are being misused or not He wishes to bequeath his legal share (if any) from the firms in which he was made a share holder / a trustee, by his daughter-in-law and her parents, to a Charitable organization. Regards
