Approximate Standard Rent in Mumbai?

We have been tenant of a charitable Trust and were paying rent @400/- for 330ft sq ft tenament. It was in 2006. Now the post redevelopment the new land Lord is asking 26000/-+ all government taxes which very Exhobirant and we just can't afforded. We intend to file application with Standard Rent Fixing authorities for fixing the standard rent but it will take 2 yrs. The notorious builder can go any length to drive out us if don't take possession of the flat alloted to us and start paying the rent demanded by him.

What are the remedies to deal with him.

Any guess what could be the standard rent against 400/- pm that we were paying besides the huge pagadi of 50000/- in the year 1974.

We know cost have gone up but how one can afford to pay 26000/- + taxes against 400/-.

Even it may be a time consuming process it is always advisable that you handle this case in a proper legal manner through court.

You can file a petition for fixing fair rent as per existing law along with an application to restrain the builder from indulging in any act against your tenancy interest including restraining him from evicting you forcibly.

Any other may not fetch you appropriate and proper relief.
