Protesting the bomb blast by terrorist groups in the Delhi High Court premises on Wednesday, members of the Nellore Bar Association resolved to abstain from attending courts for two days on September 8 and 9. At the District Court Complex here on Thursday, advocates sported black badges and raised slogans against the terrorist act, in which a few advocates and common people died and several others suffered injuries in the attack. Attack condemned Expressing concern over the bomb blast in the High Court premises, lawyers abstained from courts in Gudur, Venkatagiri, Kavali, Kovur, Atmakur and Kovur in Nellore district on Thursday. Nellore Bar Association secretary E. V. Rami Reddy said that for the first time in Indian history, the terrorists had targeted the judiciary. Stating that the delayed proceedings in executing the punishments were the main reasons for yesterday's terrorist brutality, Mr. Rami Reddy said that the State and Central government should set up a separate machinery to tackle terrorist activities and step up security at courts. Ex-gratia demanded The advocates raised slogans demanding that the government announce Rs.25 lakh ex-gratia to the kin of those who died in the blast and Rs.10 lakh to the injured lawyers in the bomb blast. The association members said the lawyers will not attend for arguments in courts on Friday also, and appealed to the clients not to come to courts on September 9. Nellore Bar Association president C. Sunder Rami Reddy, executive committee members P. Rama Devi and Ramakrishna, senior advocates V. Chandrashekar Reddy, B. V. Ramana Reddy, C. Vijaya and others participated in the protest programme.
