As an individual, you cannot claim. However, if you get your business registerwed as a business entity and start keeping vouchers for expenses and maintain proper accounts, you would be able to account for the expenses as business expenses of your enterprise. For complete details and assistance you would need the help of an independent Tax practitioner or a CA.

As per section 37 of the Income Tax Act, the expenses wholly and exclusively for the purpose of business or profession will be allowed for coomputing the income. If you do some thing after wearing the shoes then the claim can be allowed if you only wear shoes to visit the client or place of businees then this cliam will not be allowed. Expenses related to child will also not be admissible.

Shoes were not worn for visiting client. They were worn to go into really far flung villages of Pamir range to interview people on a particular project of the client. going there had involved quite a bit of trekking as no vehicle can climb up those mountains and if one does not wear sturdy shoes, one can always slip and may lose limb, if not life.
