generally Company Directors enter into Agreements with other companies or agents or dealers. in such cases, there may not be problem. But ask your owner to give time to sign and show a copy of the same to your counsel.only on his advise you may sign.otherwise don't sign.

Although it is an academic query yet to clarify;
witnessing a document is that when the parties put their hand (sign) witness has seen them signing and identify them, which has very limited liability of the witness qua terms and conditions of the document/ agreement.
Guarantee or surety create a liability on you as equal to that of the party which you stand guarantor or surety, depending upon the terms of document/agreement executed between the parties.

It is advisable that you ascertain the nature of the document and the transaction involved before affixing your signature.
