you have all the problem

if :-

(i) marriage was bigamous
(ii) marriage was of minor
(iii) marriage was between persons of different religion and was not under Spl Marriage act
(iv) marreige was otherwise illegal in any way.

and you being aware of illegality and abetted such marriage and helped the husband to deceive the lady to believe that she is now wife.

then come honest with facts why you are worried.
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 30 April 2016
There seem to be no worry if you have witnessed in good faith, without any ill will.

If you acted as witness in a legally valid marriage, then where is any room for fear or confusion in your mind now. Please elaborate
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 01 May 2016
In my opinion, your fears are unnecessary, you have just signed as a witness for a marriage which is a normal act. It cannot be termed as an illegal act and suppose you are getting any summons in this regard anytime in the future as you apprehend, you may state the facts known to you about the marriage while deposing your evidence.
