Marriage registration

Hello Experts:

One of my muslim friend recently got married and it was an arranged marriage. Grateful, if anyone could help me understanding how does he get his marriage registered? What documents are required for the registration? What are the fees, etc.

It depends rules framed by concerned state where your friend wants to register the marriage.

Visit the local registrar of marriage office, find out the formalities and proceed. procedure differs from state to state.

Marriage Registeration is a state subject, Additonal District Magistrate is, generally, Registrar of Marriages.
In Delhi the marriage is required to be registered compulsorily within 60 days of marriage under the provisions of Delhi (Compulsory) Marriage Registeration act, 2014 where SDMs are empowered as registrar of marriage.
Necessary requirements and form is available on website delhigov.nic.in

Muslim marriages are generally registered in the form of Nikahnama by the concerned mosque itself and it is held as valid registration even for immigration purposes however as a caution, enquiry may be made in the local marriage registrar's office about the formalities stipulated for muslim marriages.
