My name is spelt as Rajeshkumar Venkatasamy in my passport whereas in my company records it is spelt as Rajeshkumar Venkadasamy. I use my father's name as my surname (as is usually done in Tamilnadu. My community certificate and father's death certificate shows his name as Venkatasamy. My PAN card and driving license show it as Venkadasamy, however. My school certificates only use my initials.
I have to travel to Finland in February end for work and for that reason, the company's branch in Finland has to send me an invite letter which I then have to submit to the consulate for Visa purposes. With a mismatch in the spelling, the Visa will not be issued.
Please suggest any legal recourse to take and the procedures for the same to assist me. My friends also suggested if an official alias can be registered as the procedure for changing the name on the passport is not available as a Tatkal service and will take a long time to process.

An affidavit and official gazette publication should save this problem.

Consult a lawyer and file declaration suit in court and court would give directions for corrections which would take minimum 15 days depending on your advocate. Before that meet the Chief Pass Port Officer and he would guide you properly and request him to do it on priority.

Your own office can help you to correct your name in their record as per your passport. If you are unable to convince your office people for helping you, the government departments and also passport office have long and time taking procedure.
