Dear Experts,

What is the meaning of IA & PO in below statement

Yet due to its nonproduction by the PO, the IA has held this charge partly proved.
ajay sethi (Expert) 03 October 2011
what is the nature of proceedings in the case?
prabhakar singh (Expert) 03 October 2011
from sentence as framed IA must be understood, just guessing, inspecting authority.
PO requires supply of a little more clue to guess.
R.Ramachandran (Expert) 03 October 2011
PO definitely stands for Presenting Officer. IA could, in the context, possibly stand for Inquiring Authority.
ajay sethi (Expert) 03 October 2011
well PO also stands for presiding officer in DRT
prabhakar singh (Expert) 03 October 2011
well kindly give re look in the context of sentence PO DOES NOT LOOK TO MEAN presiding officer while IA may be any of our guess.
RAJU O.F., (Expert) 04 October 2011
They are 'Presenting Officer' in a domestic enquiry and 'Investigating Authority' who conducted the enquiry.
J K Agrawal (Expert) 05 October 2011
PO presiding officer of the Court

IA Investigation Agency

Dear Prashant,

In departmental inquiry cases, the terms IA and PO are uses for "Inquiring Authority" and "Presenting Officer." respectively. Inquiring Authority is always other than an investigating offier, who would have conducted preliminary investigation before issue of charge sheet.
Guest (Expert) 07 October 2011
Dear Shri Ramachandran,

Nothing of the sort of "possibly," as you were perfectly right in your guess about IA. IA is used for the term Domestic/Inquiring Authority only in any departmental inquiry case.
