You are at liberty to choose either religion of your parents and also the caste. You have to make declarations to this effect and announce in the gazette.Apply to the director of stationary and printing of your state for the relevant formats, and send with the fess. The gazatte shall be the permanent record for your future use.

Religion is a matter of faith and free choice and for that you,if major, are at complete liberty, but cast can not be your choice,as the same would,in my opinion, be governed by fatherhood.IF cast would become changeable, every one in this country would perhaps change his cast to claim SC/ST reservation, though it would be better if allowed,as ultimately it will eliminate cast-ism in the country.

I agree with prabhkar singh.
