Dear Sir,
I need your sincere advice to clarify some of my doubts.
I was a widower with 2 kids (One boy is 5 year old and other boy is 10 years). After walking in a dark tunnel for about 1 years, I decided to get on with the life again and I re- marriged on 19/01/2012, who was divorcees with one daughter, aged 12 years, living with her and who has accepted all the responsibility of her daughter after divorced.
Now, my question are :
(1) Is it possible for me to put my name behind my new wife’s daughter’s name ? If yes, please advice, How ? What you advice at your point of view ? My daughter will get her school admission in next June, shall she get my name behind her name in her new school ? Please reply.

the girl is 12 years old now.. even not yet get admission in school?
its ok.. your name can be initial to the daughter..
already anywhere her initial mentioned with her original father name men., you have to issue a gazatte notification for name transfer..

Yes, you can use your name after legally adopting her.

You have given a new life to the widow and her daughter. You can put your name behind the girl's name.

Yes you can subject to her original father's consent. If any. Even she got diversed. We don't know about the details about the child and her father relation

It adoption the consent of both mother and father of child is required. Even in the case where the lady is divorced, she can not give her child without the consent of father of the child.

I do agree with the advice of Kar and add that without the consent of biological father of the daughter, you cannot add your name as her father.

Even otherwise she is your daughter now. If youare Govt servant then she is part of your famioy of medical treatment, LTC etc. For adoption you will have to disturb your wife's ex-husband. His consent depeneds on the type of person he is.

In answer to your this query I need to state that while you are free to take every care of your new wife as well as her daughter but her father name would remain the same who is her begetter.
So unless you adopt her with consent of her begetter,which you can do legally ,as you do not have a daughter,you can not give her your name as father.
