i thing its can be in local language only.. the charge sheet can not be prepared in which language the accused known.. its can be prepared by the complainant and witness, people's language only..
if the accused dont know concern language mean he can be translate it with the aid of his advocate..

I totally endorse the views of tom. There is no such provision in criminal Procedure code and police is bound to follow local language of State.

The Police Rules of particular state determines on this point. If the Police is supposed to give it in regional language then no request of the accused person is sufficient. He can though get it translated in the language of his comfort.

The accused can get a copy of chargesheet from the court and get it translated by his own expenditure. Advocate of the accused will do the needful.
I have never seen the court giving a translated copy of the chrgesheet.
