Profession tax

Sir/Madam,
Whether employees working in NGO/charitable office in Chennai are exempted from paying profession tax.
If yes,
let me know exemption u/s ? can be claimed which comes under Chennai Corpn. rules.

Professional tax differ from state to state being state matter (in some states like Haryana professional tax does not exist).

Is the charitable NGO exempted from tax payments or whether the salaries paid to the employees are not accountable and audit able? What is the trust office opining about this?

Sir,
Yr Q Is the charitable NGO exempted from tax payments
yes - the NGO is registered under Society Act XXI of 1860 and also applied u/s 12A(a) of the Income Tax Act,1961, in Form 10 A; comes under exemption assessment for income tax; submits annual audited reports thru IT returns and not remitting any IT for the organisation.
