There was a complaint registered against myself in the local police station for annoynoums email sent against an organisaton.
The police onforwarded it to the cyber crime and they traced my email ID and the police registered a 506 and 509 case.
However on the FIR my name was not mentioned however the cyber crime report do mention it.
I spoke to the organisation and described them that my laptop was stolen and thus this mistaken identity. The organisation confirmed that they will not go ahead with the case.
The FIR was registered on May 25, 2014 and according to me,if the organisation goes ahead a Charge Sheet should have been filed by September 25, 2014. There is no chargesheet filed yet and i haven't heard anything fromt he court or police station.
In the interim, i discussed this one of the lawyer and I assume he is trying to take money from me and he is creating stories like the complaint has been onforwarded to the cyber crime cell and all.
He is asking me to come and meet him and wants money as he is like he will settle it with the police.
I doubt his intetions and need some advice on the same.
Experts kindly review and advice and please let me know if you need any more information.

Dear Dr. Vashista! what more information is required or why do you feel its premature. Given that 90 days are over from the date of FIR with no charge sheet filed or any news from police or court; what else should we look forward to

If FIR has been lodged, case may not have been closed, if closure report not submitted.
You can engage another lawyer to guide you. Lawyer is not supposed to advise without payment.

Pray for an anticipatory bail before the Sessions Court so that at the time of hearing police shall have to disclose whether or not you are wanted by the police

Did you inform your innocence to Cyber Cell in writing about the whole episode with proof of your laptop having been stolen (FIR / DD / receipted Complaint) ?

From a lap top without a internet connection, no one can send an email to another person. Were your internet connection in built in the laptop that has been reportedly stolen?
You cannot engage a lawyer at free of cost for his services. If you don't have faith in that lawyer you are free to choose some other person, better apply for AB so that you will come to know the status of the complaint.
