Section : Want only giving provocation with intent to cause riot-if rioting becommitted:if not committed.

153. Want only giving provocation with intent to cause riot--ifrioting be committed: if not committed.-Whoever malignantly, orwantonly by doing anything which is illegal, gives provocation to anyperson intending or knowing it to be likely that such provocation willcause the offence of rioting to be committed, shall, if the offence ofrioting be committed in consequence of such provocation, be punishedwith imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend toone year, or with fine, or with both, and if the offence of rioting benot committed, with imprisonment of either description for a termwhich may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.
