Voluntarily causing grievous hurt to extort confession, orto compel restoration of property.--Whoever voluntarily causesgrievous hurt for the purpose of extorting from the sufferer or fromany person interested in the sufferer any confession or anyinformation which may lead to the detection of an offence ormisconduct, or for the purpose of constraining the sufferer or anyperson----------------------------------------------------------------------1. Subs. by Act 26 of 1955, s. 117 and Sch., for "transportation for life".----------------------------------------------------------------------175interested in the sufferer to restore or to cause the restoration ofany property or valuable security, or to satisfy any claim or demandor to give information which may lead to the restoration of anyproperty or valuable security shall be punished with imprisonment ofeither description for a term which may extend to ten years, and shallalso be liable to fine.
