Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE PRISONERS (ATTENDANCE IN COURTS) ACT, 1955 ACT NO. 32 OF 1955 [20th September, 1955.] An Act to provide for the attendance in courts of persons confined in prisons for obtaining their evidence or for answering a criminal charge. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title, extent and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Prisoners (Attendance in Courts)Act, 1955. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. (3)It shall come into force on such date' as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
