Section : Short title, extend and commencement.

1.Short title, extend and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. (2) It extends to the whole of India: Provided that it shall apply to the State of Jammu and Kashmir only in so far as it pertains to the matters relatable to any of the entries enumerated in List I or List III in the Seventh Schedule to the Constitution as applicable to that State. 2 (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 28th day of September, 1993.
