Section : False statement on oath or affirmation to public servant or personauthorized to administer an oath or affirmation.

181. False statement on oath or affirmation to public servant orperson authorized to administer an oath or affirmation.--Whoever,being legally bound by an oath 3*[or affirmation] to state the truthon any subject to any public servant or other person authorized by lawto administer such oath 3*[or affirmation], makes, to such publicservant or other person as aforesaid, touching that subject, anystatement which is false, and which he either knows or believes to befalse or does not believe to be true, shall be punished withimprisonment of either description for a term which may extend tothree years, and shall also be liable to fine.
