Section : Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage hermodesty.

354. Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrageher modesty.--Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any woman,intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will there byoutrage her modesty, shall be punished with imprisonment of eitherdescription for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, orwith both.

i think other states should emulate as ragging in many of the cases is leading to suicides by students and therfore it needs to addressed on par with nothing short of an attempt to murder punishment.

The punishment in State of Andhra Pradesh is Imprisonment upto 7 years it should not be less then 5 years, even by recording special reason it should not be less then 2 years. In Andhra Pradesh it is Non-Bailable offense triable by court of Sessions.
