12. Absence of Sub-Registrar or vacancy in his office.-When anySub-Registrar is absent, or when his office is temporarily vacant, anyperson whom the Registrar of the district appoints in this behalfshall be Sub-Registrar during such absence, or until 1*[the vacancy isfilled up].
