The Kerala High Court Advocates Association convened an extra ordinary General Body meeting on 18th January to discuss the resolution demanding enquiry in connection with the allegation against NHRC Chairman Justice K.G. Balakrishnan. The resolution also demands for resignation of Justice Balakrishnan from Chairmanship.
The District Bar Associations in Kerala, that is Bar Associations at Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Thrissur had already resolved to request for a probe against Justice Balakrishnan. The Bar Council of Kerala also demanded an independent probe in this matter to uphold the public trust on judiciary.
The former Judge of Supreme Court of India Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer and eminent Jurist Sr. Advocate Fali. S. Nariman already demanded a probe in this matter by a Judicial Commission.
