DMK's Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi hugged the female co-inmates of Tihar's sub-jail number six, offered them sweets ordered from an in-house canteen and left behind her TV set for their use before departing a cell-room that was her home since May 20. Chargesheeted in the 2G scam, Kanimozhi was released from the Tihar Jail on Tuesday at around 7.30 pm.
"Kanimozhi was happy and emotional at the time of leaving the jail. She hugged the female co-inmates, donated her TV set for others' use, thanked jail officials," said a jail source.
To avoid media, Kanimozhi left from another route.
Among those who had arrived at the jail to receive her included brother Union minister MK Alagiri, DMK's senior leader TR Baalu and several other party parliamentarians and legislators.
