Cricketing sensation Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograjsingh Bhagsingh Bhundel, popularly known as Yograj Singh (50) and five relatives have been booked on charges of cheating and conspiracy in a property matter by the economic offences wing of Punchkula district police. Yograj Singh a former Indian cricketer in early 1980’s and a right-arm fast-medium bowler has been in the news for all wrong reasons, right from having a failed cricket career, a strained relationship with his wife and son, to several encounters with the law. The case against Yograj, his second wife Neena, his mother-in-law Gurmeet Kaur and his three sisters-in-law was registered on May 10, 2008 following a complaint from Pankaj Mahajan. Pankaj Mahajan said that all of them connived to dupe him of Rs 46 lakh, which he had paid as part installment for purpose of a house in Sector 12 at Haryana. The deal was struck for the house in December 2007 for Rs 96 Lakh, according to the complainant. Mahajan said that after he paid the first installment and approached the family in March for paying the full amount and take possession, they refused to accept it or transfer the property .He also claimed that the accused refused to refund the Rs 46 lakh deposited by him earlier. The three sisters-in-law moved court to claim their share in the property just to make matters more complicated, alleged Mahajan. No arrests have been made so far, said Sandeep Khirwair superintendent of police (Punchkula). Yograj played one Test and six one-dayers for India in 1980-81. In his only Test against New Zealand, he claimed the wicket of John Wright, former Indian coach. After Yograj’s retirement from cricket he become an actor, appearing primarily in Punjabi films. He has appeared in about 150 films like Jagga Daku (1991), Sali Adhi Gharwali (1992), Nain Preeto De (1995), etc. He is best known as a villain for his performance in “Badla Jatti Da” (1996). In 2004 Yograj was sentenced to six months in jail for "negligent and rash driving" in respect of an accident in 2000 in Chandigarh in which a scooter rider was seriously injured. The charge was denied, but the prosecution said that Yograj's car number plate was found at the site of the accident.
