J&K HC quashes detention of 5 PSA detenues in Kashmir Dated : 23-2-2009 Source : UNI JAMMU : TEXT : The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has quashed the detention of five persons under Public Safety Act (PSA) in the Kashmir Valley. The court directed the authorities yesterday to release the detenues immediately, if they are not sought in any other case. The court order came on separate writ petitions filed by the detenues, challenging their detention under PSA. Earlier, the court heard the arguments from Public Prosecutor and defence counsels before announcing the judgment to release the detenues, who were detained on different occasions for their alleged involvement in separatist movement. The detenues included Zia-ul-Islam, Gowhar Hussain Dar, Mohammad Ramzan, Sartaj Ahmad and Bilal Ahmad. UNI
