The Haryana Police today arrested former Haryana Additional Advocate General Sanjeev Bansal on charges of delivering Rs 15 lakh cash at the residence of a Punjab and Haryana High Court judge. Bansal, who has been absconding for the past couple of days, was arrested by police after he surrendered at the Sector 11 police station early this morning. Bansal's munshi Parkash Ram, who allegedly delivered the money to Justice Nirmaljit Kaur's residence, had already been arrested and was remanded to three-day police custody yesterday. Bansal had initially stated that the amount was earnest money for a property deal and was to be delivered to a property dealer with a name similar to the High Court judge. He had claimed that the bag containing cash was not meant to be delivered at the judge's residence. The Chandigarh Police had registered the case in this connection on the complaint of Justice Kaur and was trying to find out the motive behind the delivery of cash.
