The Bill provides protection not only to women who are employed but also to any woman who enters the workplace as a client, customer, apprentice, and daily wageworker or in ad-hoc capacity. Students, research scholars in colleges and university and patients in hospitals have also been covered. It also provides for an effective complaints and redressal mechanism. Under the proposed Bill, every employer is required to constitute an Internal Complaints Committee which will enquire into the complaints of sexual harassment. They will also recommend action to the employer or District Officer. The Complaint Committees will have complete the enquiry within 90 days while 60 days will be given to the employer or District Officer for implementation of the recommendations of the Committee. Since there is a possibility that during the pendency of the enquiry the woman may be subject to threat and aggression, the victim will be given the option to seek interim relief. The Bill provides for safeguards in case of false or malicious complaint of sexual harassment.

in my rti case i received false, incomplete information only after Hon'ble commission's verdict after 382 days and 482 days. I spent lot of time meticulously in vain. Like this Internal Complaints aCommittee wiil favour the employer only.

HATS OFF TO THE CABINET FOR THE BILL ABOUT SEXUAL HARASSMENT AT WORKPLACE. HOWEVER, IT SHOULD ALSO ENSURE THAT THE BILL IS IMPLEMENTED IN A JUSTIFIABLE MANNER AND NOT JUST A PAPER WORK. THOUGH A SENIOR WITH 24 YEARS OF SERVICE WITH THE STATE BANK OF HYDERABAD, I STILL CONTINUE TO BE VICTIMISED WITH SUBTLE SEXUAL HARASSMENT ISSUES BY A FEW SBH OFFICIALS. AT THE SAME TIME THERE ARE OTHER KIND AND GOOD NATURED BANK OFFICIALS WHO TREAT ME LIKE THEIR SISTERS. HOWEVER THESE FEW NEFARIOUS AND IMMORALE BANK OFFICIALS AT THE HELM OF AFFAIRS ROT ALL THE OTHER APPLES IN THE BASKET. http://www.lawyersclubindia.com/forum/Re-MISUSE-OF-POSITION-BY-BANK-OFFICIALS-26781.asp PLEASE READ THE ABOVE LINK TO COMMENT AND RECOMMEND A REASONABLE AND RELIABLE ADVOCATE. There is nothing for men to protect themselves from harassment by women. Another weapon to womenfolk to harass men. In majority of the cases such laws are misused. There should be stringent punishmsnt for misuse aswell.

the bill should also cover the harassment to women who work in NGO's and Housing Societies in honorary capacities by the members of the public or the members of the society. It need not be limited to sexual harassment, it should include mental harassment as well ashok dhingreja

Good step but what about men what about equality i understand the privilege given by Art 15 (3) but when Sec 376 is being proposed to be sexual harassment and not rape... should there be law to protect men also from sexual harassment at work place... where 498(a) stands to be taken for a ride most of the times, will this if brought into force be another tool that'll be misused like PWDV or 498a
