Summer Vacation in Judiciary

LCI Learning

Vacation in the judiciary is continuing since pre-independence. Its duration in the Supreme Court and High Courts is governed by the Rules/Regulations framed by the concerned Court. This information was given by the Dr. M.Veerappa Moily, Minister of Law and Justice in a written reply in the Lok Sabha. The Minister further informed the House that at present Government does not have under its consideration any proposal to abolish the practice of summer vacation in the Courts.

Unlike other professions, judiciary needs vacation. what is practiced from pre independence in judiciary in regard to vacations is ideal and necessary. Thanks to Mr.Hon'ble Law Minister, for his supportive statement

summer vacation should be abolished for ever.i think, it is the idea of english judges in the pre-independant era, as they could not bear the hot and humind conditions in our country. it is pathetic that we still continue all these sort of practices of englishmen, in our presant scenario. moreover,if summer vacation has to be allowed, it should be allowed to criminal courts also. why this discrimination ?
