Various suggestions have been made to amend the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961 to improve quality of apprenticeship training, increase number of apprentices, include services sector for apprenticeship training, improve employability of apprentices, make the Act more facilitative than prescriptive, etc. Many rounds of consultations have been held with the concerned Ministries and Stakeholders.

A study has also been carried out in coordination with International Labour Organization and World Bank to get international perspective and best practices followed elsewhere. The amendments proposed are under consideration of the Government.

The amendments are being carried out with an objective to increase the number of apprentices, improve quality of training and employability of apprentices.

This is very good steps towards developinhg the quality of training. Only one question that the post training engagement is to done by the employers amongst the apprentices which were engaged on priority and not to recruit others
