Appointment of Notary Public

Government has said that 4,931 lawyers have applied to get appointed as Notary Public at different places during the period from 1st January, 2010 to till date. Giving this information in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Shri Salman Khurshid, Minister of Law & Justice, said that the memorials of the lawyers received upto 31.12.2010 were examined and the lawyers whose memorials have been found in order were interviewed. 1,001 lawyers have been selected out of which, 153 have been appointed Notary Public. The House was informed that appointment letters have already been issued to the selected lawyers except those belonging to the States of Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Shri Khurshid said that no time limit can be indicated for issuance of appointment letters. However, steps are being taken to issue appointment letters expeditiously.

Thanks for the information from the Minister of Law. Well anybody who submit Memorial for Notary the Concerned department will scrutnize the application and they will verify in Bar Council of their respective states. Thereafter they will receive the call letter for interview.

Let entrepreneurs show governMINT fellows what is true joy of work. It will be nice if ALL the new comers take on the pledge of "I won't give/take illegal money/gratis etc".

The above information is worth informative. let the government or the law minister spell the breakup details state wise on the no. of notarties appointed or to be appointed for the year of 2011. i have applied and sent the memorial for notary public only recently in the month of august 2011 , can any body tell me as to when i will be sent the call letter for the interview and appointment . thanks

Well Vipin Marya,for the appointment of the notary public you have to submit the memorial, as specified in Form I in the Notaries Rules,1956 along with all the enclosures as specified there in, to the State Government/Central Government forwarded through the District Judge where the Advocate who intends to appoint is practising.
