While posting the matter for 14th December, the division bench of the high court comprising Chief Justice Barin Gosh and Justice Mohammad Yaqub Bhat said it should not be deemed as granting more time to CBI to complete the investigations and observed that both the court and the people of the state wanted the agency to expedite probe into the case.
The CBI, which had exhumed the bodies of the two victims on 28th September after obtaining permission from their family, submitted its report to the court on Tuesday in a sealed envelope as was directed by the court on 30th August.
Seeking reasonable time to complete investigations into the case, CBI counsel Anil Bhan said that since the report from forensic laboratory is awaited, it will take the probe agency some time to conclude its investigations.
Later the division bench fixed 14th December as the next date of hearing in the case.
The Chief Justice also directed the CBI to file a chargesheet before an appropriate court after completing its probe in the case.
