What is the maximum no. of pets a person can keep in india?

Hi, I want to know what is the maximum no. of pets one family can keep or raise in a household? I read that in USA the no. is two. Is there any such thing in India? Context: my sister has 20+ pet cats in our house at hometown. I visit house once in 2-3 months. I am okay in keeping 1-2 pets but this 20+ is too much. I can't visit my house due to the hygiene that I am expecting is not maintained in house. I need a solution for this.

Hello Krishnakumar KA,

There is no law in India restricting the number of pets. Also, as per the Indian Constitution does not stipulate that pets are not allowed in any apartments. The association/society can make bye-laws but this is not necessarily binding on the owner of a pet.

I hope this helps.

Hello!

In India, there is no as such restriction on the number of pets one can keep. In the eyes of law, the pets are considered as personal property. One can own as number of pets as they want to. If any nuisance is created by the odor or the sounds of pets, then the owner can be told to make it good. But as a personal property, owners can do pretty much whatever they want to. As a matter of ownership, the pet should be registered and the owner should have his license.

Hope this helps you!
