Hi,

There are 4 types of domestic violence which is recognized under Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act, 2005. These are: Physical, verbal, and emotional ( which includes not having a child or a male child, marrying without consent), and economic (including violence related to stridhan, dowry, property) and s*xual (includes s*xual abuse and marital rape).

The Protection of Women From Domestic Violence Act (PWDVA), 2005 was enforced to provide for more effective protection of the rights of women which are guaranteed under the constitution who are victims of any kind of violence occurring within the family and for matters connected thereto.

Domestic violence Section provides that for the purpose of this Act
Firstly, you by your act, omission, commission or conduct harm or injure or endanger health, safety, life, limb or well being, of aggrieved person
Secondly, if you harass, harm, injure or endanger the aggrieved person with a view to coerce her or any other person related to her to meet any unlawful demand for any dowry or other property or valuable security.
Thirdly, if your act, omission or commission or conduct has the effect of threatening the aggrieved person or any person related to her by any conduct mentioned in clause firstly and secondly, above
Fourthly, if you by your act, omission or commission or conduct otherwise injure or cause harm to the aggrieved person, whether physically or mentally.
