Victim of impersonation

1. You had a laptop last year you put it for sale OR someone by the name Mr. Y approached you for its sale, this someone bought it by originaly being Mr. X appearing before you as Mr. Y; end of sale / purchase if his cheque did not bounce and now IT authorities would not care to ask you details of person to whom such sale was done if the laptop was bought initially by your own company funds and depreciation shown in your books of accounts so on so forth.....

2. Also if the laptop was formatted devoid of any confidential datas before its sale that your competitor would have used via purchaser Mr. Y such confidential datas of youu company then what is actual grievance of yours here?

Laptop was sold against cash.

Yes Laptop was formatted - no fear of data theft. In first place, the laptop didnt had anything worthy in it. So even if I had sold it without formatting also, there was no issue.

It is just that I want this guy who lied to me about his profession and background to be cornered legally for impersonation. 

For that I have to first get his mobile number, chat with him and gather the proof that he had lied to me and then expose his impersonating activity - because my competitor is thougt to be very good human being - where as he is not.

Now, to get his mbile number - I need my prepaid mobiles call list. As per MObile Service provider, I have to file an FIR. Exactly here, I am in need of suggestions: - If I tell above reason - will the police file the FIR? If not, what other reasons I have give? If I reveal the name of competitor to Police, I am 100% sure, that,instead of helping me, they will directly go and inform that Competetor.  So I amin a situation, without naming my competetor, I need to approach Police, give some convincing reasoning for filing FIR, get call list, chat with that BUYER, get his voice recorded, then and then only - I will be able to expose this BUYER who is relative of my Competetor.

Please give some suggestions,

Plz help -- I am lost - I dont know how to approach Police and what to say them in order to convince them to file FIR...

1. You have no grounds except fishing. Reason being did you advertise about background check r/w DNA paternity test is a must before I sell my laptop!.
2. Chamber Consult with a advocate invest on consultation fees and hear the same reply as in-person if not satisfied by internet replies. 

Crude Illustration:
Say one day you ride on a hired auto rikshaw. Cozying and talking to auto driver on the way you cover your distance. You pay the meter fare and get off from auto thanking him for the ride. A person standing at your alighting point tells you the auto driver is double graduate. Same was not told to you while riding the auto by the driver, so did the auto driver impersonate you in any way and caused you any harm that you want to file an RTI to RTO to get that auto driver details to teach him a lesson and will such Application stands test?  Also will you now go to police station and ask from traffic police department to give you all names / address of all auto drivers who are graduates to file an complaint on impersonation?.
