Varification of credentials?

A friend is in need of a consultancy for IEPF authorities and was approached by AMA Legal Solutions, Gurugram.

While checking on line he is surprised to find that there are 2 firms with similar names but different websites and logos.

To ensure that he is not fleeced he asked for Bar Council Registration Certificate which is not provided but claim that it's registered with the Bar Council.

Nor any references are being provided by the firm.

Please guide how to ascertain that the firm is a Bonafide entity?

TIA

In India, only individual advocates are enrolled/registered with the State Bar Council (under the Advocates Act, 1961)

Bar Council of India does not register law firms.

A “law firm” is simply a business/organizational structure used by multiple advocates to work together. The Advocates Act does NOT require firms to be registered.

Therefore you may have to verify the genuineness of the law firm through your own sources if you cannot find the details in the internet.

It is buyers beware situation.

AMA Legal Solutions was enrolled in Bar Council of Delhi and Bar Council of India.  If two companies have the same name but their addresses, logos, etc. are all different and so it is not against to law in my view.

What do you mean by the terms "IEPF" & "AMA" used by you ?

It is an individual (but not a law firm) qualified lawyer who can be enrolled with State Bar Council as per Advocates Act, 1961

Sir, Investors Education and Protection Fund is IEPF.

AMA is the name of the firm.

None of them may not have been enroled with Bar Council.

The said firms are not relevant to law firms, besides a law firm cannot get enrolled in a bar council.
