Value of stamp paper

This is a proxy query raised in one of the Whatsapp groups of LAWyers Club India which I am sharing with experts here. Please share your views so we can convey the same to the queriest:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I want to know how much is the value of the Notarial stamp to be affixed in Affidavit (Rs.100 Non Judicial stamp Paper) and Indemnity(Rs.300 Non Judicial Stamp Paper) while submitting to obtain duplicate share certificates.

The Advocate and Notary Public has already authenticated the above papers signed by shareholder duly witnessed with his Notary Stamp.

The value of 40 shares of Sun Pharma is app. Rs.65,000 on date for which duplicate is needed. The Share transferring agency MUFG In Time is unable to specify.

I shall be thankful if the details can be provided.

According to the recent amendment, for the affidavit, a stamp of Rs. 500/- is required, and for the indemnity bond, a stamp duty of Rs. 500/- is applicable in Maharashtra.

The applicable  NJS paper value depends on the local law of each state.

Hence may clarify the same from your own registration department

Stamp duty is a State subject which differs in a State to another.
