If will contains the signature or thumb impression of your grandmother and two witnesses then it is perfectly valid will.Registration of will is not compulsory.

If the will contains the signature or thumb impression of the Testator (your grandmother) with two witnesses then it is valid as its registration is not compulsory.

In simple terms registration of Will is not mandatory but it's genuineness can be challenged in courts.

P. Venu (Advocate)     11 October 2022

Any Will, if challenged, needs to proved in terms of Section 68 of the Evidence Act in spite of it being registered or otherwise.
