Tampering DNA

Courtesy: Sunday Times of India

It is the fact that your DNA makes you unuque, just like your fingerprints. It's only carried in the white blood cells and even though DNA's basic chemical structure is the same for everyone, the difference lies in the order of its base pairs or chemical compounds.

So it;s worrying to read new Israeli research in Forensic Science Interational that an individual's DNA samples of blood and saliva can be manufactured from those of someone else.It make the fake DNA, the researchers reportedly separatd the red and white blood cells from a woman's blood sample. Then, they amplified the DNA from a man's hair into a larger sample, and added it to the woman's DNA-free red blood cells. The bolld matched the man's genetic profile. The Israelis subsequently sent the tampered DNA smple to a leading American forensics laboratory, which analyzed it as a routine blood sample from a man.

For years, DNA fingerprinting has been considered the most fool-proof evidence ever in forensic science.

There are people who always try to experiment and prove nothing is fool proof in the world.
