I am based out of chennai and today while i was nearing close to signal on my 2 wheeler,i wanted to take a right turn and had the indicator ON,though we are not suposed to take a right turn,i was waiting for the traffic to stop and then proceed. I was still on my bike,suddenly a 2 wheeler from the opposite direction came and ramped my bike-the other person must be in 70kmph where one is supposed to ride at 40kmph on that road that to he was driving without helmet with his wife as pilion driver.The moment accident happened,the public gathered ans without even understand whose mistake it was started blaming me,moreover since the victim 's wife was a female,there was no body to hear my version.I also heard people suggesting the victim to go to a bigger hospital as you can extort money. The victims wife had a fracture and a injury in the head,the moment victim saw the cops he started enacting as if he was equally and badly injured.
However i took them to hospital paid for the auto as well as xray for both.The cops came in took the version from the victim and asked me to come to the police station and i guess have loged an FIR and asked me to take my bike for vehicle investigation and has put section u/s 279,337 IPC. The cops told us that the victims are fishermen and they create lot of problem.Had i gone for a comprise i would have to shell out 60k to 70k plus there medical expenses. Hence they are registering an FIR for which i will get a notice from the high court and i just need to go and pay the fine. However they started demanding for a bribe of Rs.5000/-, i could arrange only Rs.2500/- afer which they assured me that they would prepare the report in such a manner that my empoyment/background check/abroad trips (in any) wont be affected,they will try an close as soon as i pay the fine. Whats frustrating is no body is considering my point even after i explained it to the cops.
The two hickups is (1) i am driving the bike which is a karnartake registered bike and i am driving in chennai-i have the papers in tact except the NOC.
(2) what if anything happens to victims wife (in case of death),since there is a head injury involved.Though some are saying nothing serious or to worry
I am worried,please advice
