RENT AGREEMENT

My friend gave his flat on rent for 11 months in Delhi last year and got the rent agreement registered from the Sub Registrar, now he wishes to renew the same for a further period of 11 months but he does not wish to register the same before sub-registrar and want to get attested from the notary public, can he do so? or the registration is must ?

You are better advised to get the renewal agreement registered. The registration law differs from state to state, in Maharashtra even an agreement for a period of less than one year HAS to be manadatorily be registered.
