Purchase of agriculture land from SC in UP

Being a general caste, Can my mother purchase agricultural land of 0.231 hactare in a district of ballia from a SC lady.
The lady is widow with no children and residing with thier brother.
To pay debt and to survive for life, lady is willing to sell the land.
kindly advise.

There is no general rule that a general category person cannot purchase land from a SC person, unless a specific notification to this effect has been issued for the particular locality.

There is no necessity to obtain permission from the district collector or any other authority to purchase the landed property from a SC owner by the general category buyer provided it is her own and absolute property.

If it is an assigned or government allotted land and even if the conditions are relaxed, you may on the safer side, obtain permission from District collector to purchase the property.
