I am a victim of possibe job scam. I had received an offer from a job consultancy mentioning that the job location is in Australia and the deployment will be at a reputed company with all big perks. After clearing the interviews, they sent me an offer letter with a high package which seemed genuine with all the details (possibly an edited copy of a real offer letter). Then came the scam when they asked me to buy the health insurance in Australia BUPA in order to proceed which was fully refundable according to them. Citing various reasons they took approximately 9 lakh INR from me over a period of one year in 2023. Now since the job application was proceeding nowhere, I decided to withdraw the application in December 2024 and claim the refund. However, they have been purposely delaying the refund giving various reasons and till now I have only received 6-7% of the amount. Now they refuse to receive my call but havent blocked it yet. They reply sometimes over Whatsapp and calls but only to give me another 15 days or so to wait.
I know I did not verify the company authenticity before giving them such a huge amount. I have the bank details of each transfer I have made to their account. But they never respond , only false promises that the refund will be done today/tomorrow/in 15 days etc. I have their email addresses and 1 phone number of the suspected fraud who acts as the "hiring manager"
What can I do in such a situation to get my money back ? I have repeatedly asked them politely, even warned them of a police complaint, but to no avail. I have a huge chunk of my savings stuck in this financial fraud. I have also read online that they have been doing this with other people as well who have shared their bad experience with them.
