Payment of society income tax dues

Our society recently in the last sbgm passed a resolution approved by the members present in the meeting for payment of society's pending income tax dues that were pending to be paid since the year 2008-09 due negligence as well as difference of opinion among the various mc appointed since 2008-09.

In the agenda notice sent by the current society management for this issue it is written that this pending income tax payment to be paid proportionately by all the members of the society on approval of the same in the sbgm held.

Since it was approved in the sbgm to pay off the long pending income tax the society has raised bill to all the units of the society for making one time payment of the same.

My query on this is - is the income tax payable amount equally be collected from all the units of the society or they are to be collected proportionately as per the area of the property i.e. flat/office of each member.

Your guidance in the above query will be highly appreciated.

The decision taken in the general body meeting in this regard is binding on all the members.

What were various management(s) doing since 2008-09 when the tax was raised.

A resolution passed by SGBM has to be accepted by all members, untill it is challanged and cancelled/ modified.
