Overdue interest on deliberate refusal to pay claim amount?

Due to rampant corruption OICL didn't pay the claim amount of 150000/- to senior citizen claimant on false pretexts for almost 18 months.

He was constraint to lodge complaint with Insurance Ombudsman- Mumbai.

Insurance Ombudsman passed the order to pay 150000/- only and didn't impose any interest for inordinate delay 18 months.

Need help to file compliant with Consumer for the interest amount.

You should file an appeal against them, however you can accept the amount in protest with condition to claim Interest

Yes accept the amount under protest with condition to claim interest and thereafter issue notice to OICL and claim interest.

As suggested you can accept the award amount and then file a suit for recovery of the interest amount through a civil court instead of approaching the consumer forum.

Interest amount at Max will be 33000/- approx for the delayed period. Advocate will demand 50000/- min. It's not viable. Please suggest a cost effective way, if any? Why not Consumer Court?

File a case before the consumer forum and fight yourself without a lawyer.

If citations of judgment are available and if there are sections to strengthen the case they can be given. You may then need a lawyer and your cost will increase.
