Negotiable instruments Act

Now recently president assented the new amendment to the negotiable instruments act. which states that court may order the accused to pay interim compensation of 20%.
Now my doubt is will this law be applicable to already existing cases which is on trial ? or will it be applicable to only new cases ?

According to me it will be applicable to the cases filled after the amendment.

Agreed with the above expert responds. In my humble opinion, NIA is criminal in nature and criminal law amendment can not operate with retrospective effect.
