whether civil court can direct third party to produce documents in their power and possession.. need relevant citations please

Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether a civil court has the authority to order a third party to produce documents that are within their possession or control. It references Order XI, Rules 12 to 14 and 21 of the CPC as the relevant legal framework. While the law provides the basis, the applicability of specific judgments to individual cases is crucial for effective legal strategy.

The court may also at its discretion at any time during the pendency of the suit order the production by any party of documents in its possession or power. Inspection of documents disclosed or produced must be offered to the other party.
