Need a help. is my lawyer lying?

Hello I need a help from you experienced lawyers

I have a criminal case pending (registered in 2009) and for the past 1 year the witnesses were not coming for the trial. (warrants were issued against the witnesses and still they were not coming)

yesterday my lawyer called me and said that the case will be aquitted in 7-10 days, if I pay some amount.

I readily agreed and said he can proceed and I can pay if it can be aquitted.

I checked online for the status of the case and the next hearing is on mid march.

Is it possible to close the case and aquitted just like my lawyer is saying?

If your criminal case charges are non-compoundable (Like 498A IPC, 302 IPC etc) offence then your lawyer is laying since these can’t be withdrawn by complainants or accused once filed. You should apply for speedy trial.

Please see my profile links. It may help you.

No, they are not grave offences like 302, I think its compoundable.

He was saying he will manage it with money, so the chances might be he is trying to pay off someone to withdraw the case.

In that case it could be possible right?
