Can surname be father's last name? Could you please clarify my doubt?
Actually my problem is,
My daughter's name is 'Neha Prabhu' in her birth certificate.
We decided Neha as her first name and Prabhu as her surname and so got birth certificate so.
My husband's full name is Mohan Prabhu.
When we applied for passport, the officer said Prabhu cannot be her surname as her father's full name is Mohan Prabhu. So they gave passport with given name as 'Neha Prabhu' and surname as 'Mohan Prabhu' which we really don't like.
Is there any written rule saying father's full name must be surname?
I am planning to get an expert advice and apply for name change if it is not a problem.
Please advise me on this situation.
