Name change

A woman, after marriage, can change her maiden surname to her husband's surname.  She can update her Aadhar card/PAN card/Driving license, etc., with the necessary enclosures. 

There is no rule or law forcing a woman in India to get her maiden name changed after her marriage, any change in the name after marriage has to undergo legal process of change of name without which any changes done at one's own whims is invalid especially when the changed name without following due process of law, if  challenged in the court of law. 

She has to get the surname of her husband included / suffixed  with maiden surname by publication in State gazzette.

There is no Naming Act in our country. It is amatter of personal choice. Of course, there is a custom of changing name (or surname) after marriage. But such practice is purely optional and is of no force of law.
